Platform Tennis Magazine | What’s In PTM?
Welcome to the official
website for Platform Tennis Magazine, the world’s only publication for the
sport of platform tennis.
Each issue of Platform
Tennis Magazine offers readers the opportunity to learn more about the sport
and the people involved with it. The magazine is the “Official” Publication for
the American Platform Tennis Association.
All members who join the association receive a subscription to PTM. In
addition, subscriptions are sold on an individual basis for $20 per year. To
subscribe to PTM click here.
Each issue of Platform
Tennis Magazine includes:
• Instructional Content
Each issue of Platform
Tennis Magazine offers readers three full-color instructional feature articles
contributed by the best instructors the sport has to offer. The three articles
covered in each issue are designated as: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
Therefore, there can be much learned by any player from the novice weekender to
the national ranked player.
• An Updated Tournament Schedule
Each year, the American
Platform Tennis Association sanctions approximately 180 tournaments from California to Maine. To view the 2004-05 schedule and find out what’s going on in your
region click here.
• Current Platform Tennis News and Events
Each issue of PTM offers
news from tournament and event highlights, the equipment manufacturers, the
court builders, the APTA, the professional instructor’s association, and much
more.
• Feature Articles and Editorials
Over the past six years,
PTM has featured articles from the Junior Nationals to the Senior’s Hall of
fame, from celebrity players to little-known successes, and from upstart
Municipal programs to the largest leagues and platform tennis organizations in
the country, and from equipment specifications to the court builders.
• League Pages
A majority of the APTA’s
8,500 members has come from league enrollment. Baltimore,
Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Fairfield County (CT), Long Island, Pittsburgh,
and New Jersey have over 5,000 members listed into the APTA. Pages
are dedicated in each issue of PTM to feature those leagues that support the
APTA.
• Player Profiles
Most of the profiled
players in PTM are high-ranking tournament teams; however we have snuck in many
well-known tennis professionals such as Mats Wilander, the Jensen Brothers, and
Martina Navratilova. All of these players explain how they got into platform
tennis and how it has affected other arenas of their sport’s play.
• Product Sales and much more
PTM offers an annual paddle
guide as well as recommendations of paddles for various ages and skill levels.
