The American Platform Tennis Association (founded in 1934) is the sport’s sole governing body. Players join the APTA to participate in local and national tournaments, as well as to receive Platform Tennis Magazine and support the sport.

The APTA sets the standards for court specifications, rules, tournaments, and the promotion of the sport.

The APTA sanctions over 180 tournaments per year for men, women, and children. There are also 18 National Championship tournaments and 23 National Ranking events each year. Last year, 834 players participated in the National Championships and over 1,400 in the National Ranking events.

The APTA Board of Directors communicate to their 7,500+ members through their member-sponsored publication, Platform Tennis Magazine.
